It wouldn’t be scouting without camping! Camping is a great opportunity to have fun, progress in rank, develop social connections, and spend time in the great outdoors. In the words of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, “A week of camp life is worth six months of theoretical teaching in the meeting room.” Every year, Troop 8 attends both summer and winter camp at Camp Attakapas in Trout, Louisiana. We also go on multiple small camping trips throughout the year.
Troop 8 participates in a variety of different community service events, and continually seeks to take an active role in the community. Some of our past service includes:

Troop 8 has a high rate of Eagle Scout alumni, a rank which only about 6% of scouts ever attain. Becoming an Eagle Scout involves leadership, communication skills, and responsibility. As a scout-led troop, youth will be encouraged to take on leadership roles, actively planning and leading events. This eventually culminates in young leaders who become more productive, friendly, and well-rounded members of society.
Troop 8 meets at First Baptist Church on Main Street in Pineville. Meetings are every Tuesday at 6:15 unless otherwise noted and generally last about an hour.
Troop 8 is a member of the Louisiana Purchase Council. To see and register for council events, see their website.
