Troop 8 Popcorn Sales Fundraiser 2024
Our annual popcorn fundraiser for the troop has come to a close. This year we managed to sell a lot of popcorn thanks to our friends at Lowe’s in Pineville. Many Scouts contributed their time in 3-hour shifts to accomplish this.

Eagle Scout Court of Honor 2024

Mr. Joe Hoover Retires
On December 19, 2023, Troop 8 said farewell to a man who has been with the troop for many years. Mr. Joe Hoover, our scoutmaster, retired from the troop to pass the torch down to younger leadership. Nathan Capezza’s Eagle Scout Project
On the morning of August 26, 2023, Troop 8 met at the T.R.E.E. House Children’s Museum in Downtown Alexandria to finish Troop 8 scout Nathan Capezza’s Eagle Scout project. Hayden Difulco’s Eagle Scout Project
On August 19, 2023, Hayden Difulco completed his Eagle Scout project with Troop 8. Many scouts from the troop showed up and helped to build benches to be donated to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Kayaking on Lake Buhlow
On October 23, 2022, Troop 8 went kayaking at Lake Buhlow in Pineville. Scouts spent the previous night at Camp Attakapas to satisfy a requirement for the Camping merit badge. In the morning, they drove back to Pineville for a few hours of kayaking.

Boating on Buhlow
On May 17, 2022, Troop 8 took a trip down to Lake Buhlow to complete the Motorboating merit badge. Scouts have been working on the requirements of the merit badge for a few weeks now, and Mr. Junior was kind enough to lend his boat to complete the driving requirement.

Campout at the Southern Forest Heritage Museum
On April 22-23, Troop 8 visited the Southern Forest Heritage Museum (SFHM) in Long Leaf, Louisiana. The SFHM encompasses the old Crowell and Spencer Lumber Company sawmill, which shut down in 1969. The museum was founded in 1994 with the goal of restoring and preserving the mill and its equipment for future generations. Scouts arrived…

Automotive Maintenance and Farm Mechanics Day
On April 9, 2022, the troop was invited to the Ross Bus Center in Alexandria. Scouts spent the day learning about the mechanics of farm machines and how to perform maintenance on road vehicles. All scouts in attendance earned both the Automotive Maintenance and Farm Mechanics merit badges.
