On February 22, 2026, Troop 8 held its first Eagle Scout Court of Honor under the charter of First Baptist Church Pineville. Scouts Chason Hernandez and Nicholas Pardue were both awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.

Nicholas Pardue
Nicholas Pardue currently serves as the Troop’s Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, the Lodge Chief of Order of the Arrow Comanche Lodge 254, and is highly involved in numerous clubs and activities at Pineville High School. His scouting journey began in the first grade with Pack 21 of Pineville. After completing his Arrow of Light in 2019, he became a member of Troop 8. His Eagle Scout project consisted of installing a 70’ long pathway in front of the T.R.E.E House Children’s Museum in Alexandria. You can read more about it here.

Chason Hernandez
Chason Hernandez has been with the troop for eight years and is a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. He has played numerous main roles with the Pineville High School theatre department. He began scouting in 2018 as a member of Troop 8. While in scouting, he has served in troop leadership positions, staffed at summer camp, and been elected to the Order of the Arrow. His Eagle Scout project consisted of installing a walkway up to Mary Goff Elementary’s flagpole. You can read more about Chason’s project here.

The ceremony was well-attended by a number of community members. Among them were scouts from troops 626, 45, and 14; Pineville High School Principal Mr. John Neal; Troop 8 alumni from the Eagle Scout Class of 2021; local meteorologist Nick Mikulas; and volunteers from the Southern Forest Heritage Museum.

Chason and Nick have a bright future ahead, and we can’t wait to see where life takes them!
