Location & Meetings
We are located in the Pineville / Alexandria area of Louisiana. We meet every Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church on Monroe Highway. We do a variety of merit badges and have some fun, too!
Opportunities
- Scouting Camps: We take part in summer and winter camps at Camp Attakapas in Trout, Louisiana.
- Trips: We sometimes take special trips to various locations in Louisiana. In the past, we have visited the Red Dirt Trail, the Pineville and Pollock Municipal Airports, Pineville Town Hall, and much more!
- Merit Badges: At our scout meetings, we take place in various merit badges. This includes having various guest speakers, including members of the Experimental Aircraft Association and local utility departments.
- Fun & Games: It isn’t all work at our meetings, we also like to play some games. Including more traditional games like chess, we also play our own Scout Games, such as “Nine Magazines.”
- Community Service: To give back to the community, we do some community service. However, we try to make it as fun as possible. Before, we’ve helped carry luggage at the Wesley center (And got tips!), Scouting for Food, and helping raise money for the Salvation Army.
Why Scout with Us?
So, Troop 8 seems pretty neat. But why should you join? Well, Troop 8 is one of the most active and engaged troops in the area. We are currently experiencing an influx of new scouts, and we are merging with multiple troops in the area to work on different merit badges. We try to do a variety of activities at our meetings, and visit new places all the time. We hope that you will scout with us. If you want to join, fill out our online scout application below.
